WILLOW TEA ROOMS

The Willow Tea Rooms were created over the years 1903 and 1904, and Kate Cranston anticipated, quite rightly, that they would become her showpieces. For the first time Mackintosh was given complete control over the building and interior work, and although the building already existed, it was a largely gutted terraced house which Mackintosh was able to recreate to his own design.
Behind the remarkable façade which Mackintosh created for Kate Cranston, tea and light meals are still served in the Room de Luxe and on the gallery.
