All
our furniture is created within the sphere of the arts
and crafts ideal.
William Morris wrote "Have nothing in your home
that you do not believe to be beautiful or useful"
and as a result of this idiom every aspect of furniture
design was considered. A great piece of arts and crafts
furniture can be viewed from any angle and will retain
its beauty and interest.
We carry a stock of some of our favourite designs,
but this is only representative of what we can create.
Working with selected hardwoods from sustainable resources
our cabinet-making workshop can recreate any piece of
furniture, which can be selected from our extensive
design archive.
To make a piece of arts and crafts furniture will take
from four to six weeks depending on the complexity.
We can finish the furniture to any specification, but
our preferred finish is ‘Tung Oil’. This
is an entirely natural finish which is both heat and
water-resistant.
This finish can be improved over the years by regular
application of fine beeswax at regular intervals. This
will create a deep and warm patina, which characterises
fine antique furniture.
