Lyme HallMartin House Complex

The Darwin D. Martin House Complex is Frank Lloyd Wright's most extensive Prairie House ever. Only once in Wright's 72-year career as a practicing architect did he have the opportunity to design - as an integrated whole composition - a multi-structure complex interwoven into a richly designed landscape. Darwin and Isabelle Martin gave him that chance nearly 100 years ago. Wright seized the opportunity, and simply poured his genius into this work. He was 36 years old, at the height of his Prairie House era. The result of this commission was a symphony of balance, harmony and rhythm - a residential composition of unparalleled refinement.
