John Moyr Smith, (1839-1912) was one of the most original and idiosyncratic 19th Century designers. His quirky and fantastic
designs creating a familiar and stimulating resonance within the viewer's experience, but always retaining an edginess.
On this site I wish to present an overview of his decorative designs, principally represented on ceramics and book illustrations.
